prepping flu shotEven if you’ve checked “COVID-19 shot” off your to-do list, there’s still one critical vaccination to take care of ASAP: Your annual flu shot.
As reported in WebMD, “Two mathematical models are predicting a big rebound in the number and severity of flu cases in the 2021-22 season after last year’s flu season failed to show up when public health measures brought in to control COVID-19 seemed to have the added benefit of stopping the flu.”
Because the flu season was so mild in 2020, waning natural immunity could make people – in particular, young children – more susceptible to the virus. Therefore, the Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone 6 months or older get the flu shot, with rare exceptions.
Handy tip: If you haven’t gotten your annual wellness exam yet, make an appointment today and, during the visit, ask your doctor for a flu shot!
