With the novel coronavirus COVID-19 a constant topic in the news nowadays, many consumers are stocking up on various drugs. MedBen is recommending no change to the current prescription drug refill guidelines for our clients and here’s why:
- Most wholesalers have a good supply of drugs. Many have already taken steps to build up inventories in anticipation of supply chain problems.
- Altering the policy at this point could actually encourage stockpiling and shortages.
- We already have flexibility built into the policy for vacations and other traditional reasons. Plans can also put in special override requests on an as-needed basis.
MedBen will continue to monitor the situation and let you know if circumstances change but for the time being we recommend the current policy of refill-to-soon blocks until the prescription has reach 75% of days supply used.
