MedBen Specialty Services is the most recent addition to our stable of employee benefit solutions. Sharon Mills and the Specialty Services team provide employers with a variety of resources, useful as either stand-alone services or as part of a larger benefits administration package. Specialty Services offers administrative services employers need to meet federal regulatory requirements. Like MedBen COBRA, which gives former employers the option to continue health coverage after leaving the employer group. And MedBen HIPAA, which supplies employers with creditable coverage certificates, given to employees who lose coverage. Specialty Services also administers plans designed to give employees a greater stake in keeping health care costs down. A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) allows participating employees to direct a portion of their pre-tax salary to an account maintained by the employer. Money in the account can be used to pay employees for health insurance premiums, or reimburse them for adult and child care expenses and certain out-of-pocket medical expenses. MedBen helps groups set up a plan that provides maximum benefits for all participants. Unlike the FSA, a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) is completely funded by the employer. Premiums and out-of-pocket expenses, including health insurance deductibles and copays, can be paid with HRA dollar benefits, and funds can roll over from one year to the next.
