The primary goal of case management is to provide the appropriate level of care in the most cost-effective setting.  MedBen’s case management program impacts health care costs through educating parents and families on lower-cost alternatives, negotiating with alternative care providers to provide high-quality service at cost-effective rates, and coordinating services to assure a smooth transition between care facilities.

American Health Holding, Inc. (AHH) administers MedBen’s case management functions. AHH case managers operate as facilitators and educators to members, and possess a minimum of eight years medical management experience. All medical management staff are supported by a team of board-certified medical directors and physician reviewers.

The advantages of having a case manager include greater access to centers of excellence or specialty care facilities, greater discounts, and an understanding of specialized care strategies. AHH assigns dedicated staff to each of its medical management programs. Case manager nurses specialize in:

  • Maternity/Newborn
  • Oncology
  • Transplant
  • Cardiac
  • Rehabilitation
  • Psychiatric/Substance Abuse

Employers are kept apprised of case management activity through reports detailing types of procedures, days saved, projected dollar savings and demographics of members.
