NurseLine is a free medical advice line available around the clock, every day of the week. No matter what the time, no matter how big (or small) the question, NurseLine is ready to assist you and your family members with answers to medical questions.

At MedBen, we realize that your medical concerns don’t fit neatly into eight hour days. They crop up at all hours of the day and every day of the week. That’s why NurseLine is always there to answer your questions.

What is NurseLine?
In cases of illness or injury, 24-Hour NurseLine nurses are specially trained to assess your symptoms to help you decide what the best form of care might be. Nurses are able to help through their experience and with the assistance of a patented expert system which prepares the nurses for most conditions.

Whether your question is about a child with a fever, an injury, illness or accident, NurseLine nurses will advise you on the options for care.

When should I call?
NurseLine is available to assist with questions like these:

  • Should I go to the emergency room?
  • Should I call my doctor?
  • What is the best treatment for the flu?
  • Is this a serious burn?

All of these are legitimate questions many of us encounter. When we are uncertain of the answers to these questions, we should have a source for help. NurseLine is that source.

All calls are answered by Registered Nurses with clinical experience so that they can advise you of care options. When you call the toll-free line, the nurse will ask you questions about your medical condition. The nurse will try to obtain the best information from you on symptoms you may be experiencing and will offer advice on the best course of treatment. She might recommend that you call your physician for an appointment as soon as possible. She might recommend a form of home treatment. No matter what the recommendation, you are free to follow the advice or ignore it. Your health care benefits are never affected by this program. NurseLine is a voluntary service designed to help ease your concerns about medical conditions and answer questions you or a loved one might have.

HealthPhone
MedBen’s 24-Hour NurseLine also offers HealthPhone, an audio information library featuring over 1,000 health-related topics – all available to you by calling a toll-free number.
