If your plan has a January effective date and you offer a flexible spending account (FSA), please remind your members that December 31, 2023 is the final day they can use their 2023 funds.
The best way for FSA members to check their current balances is by visiting MedBen Access, either online or via our mobile app… they just need to click on the “FSA/HRA Inquiry” from the “My FSA/HRA” menu. There, they can get balance information as well as claim submission and payment histories.
For most plans, March 31, 2024 is the last day to turn in reimbursement requests for qualified 2023 purchases. Alternately, if your FSA allowed a set amount of funds to be carried over for 2023 use, remind members that any unused funds above that amount need to be used by December 31, 2023 or they will be forfeited.
A great resource for buying FSA-eligible products is FSA Store. This online marketplace features over 2,500 health items, and members can pay using their MedBen FSA debit card so purchases are automatically noted on their account balance.
