Nearly 9 in 10 employees (89%) are satisfied with their employer-sponsored health coverage, a recent AHIP study finds. Respondents said they value their benefits not just for access to care, but for financial stability and peace of mind.

Health insurance stands apart as the most important workplace benefit, with 68% of employees placing it ahead of retirement plans and paid time off. Beyond satisfaction, the findings indicate a strong connection between coverage, retention, and overall workforce well-being.

Other key study findings include:

  • 96% say coverage is important to their family’s financial security, and 7 in 10 would face significant financial hardship if it were lost.
  • 85% would consider leaving their job if employer-sponsored health coverage were no longer offered.
  • More than two-thirds are concerned about rising health care costs.
  • Strong majorities support maintaining the tax-exempt status of employer-sponsored health benefits.

“These findings confirm once again that Americans strongly value their employer-provided health coverage and want policymakers to support the longstanding partnership between employers and health plans,” said Mike Tuffin, president and CEO of AHIP.
