The 12th Annual Sherrill-Morgan Healthcare Conference, held September 18-19, convened employers from Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee to explore innovative approaches to managing escalating healthcare costs. MedBen was proud to participate, with its sales team delivering valuable perspectives on pharmacy benefits and advancements in healthcare delivery.

During the panel “Why You Need to Own Your Pharmacy Before It Owns You,” Vice President of Sales & Marketing Brian Fargus discussed the critical need for employers to understand the drivers behind prescription drug expenses.

“A poorly designed and managed pharmacy benefit plan can lead to significant financial consequences for a self-funded plan, potentially forcing employers into desperate decision-making, which is far from ideal,” Fargus said.

In the “Innovation in Action” session, Regional Sales Director Brooke Hupp highlighted the potential of DermaSensor, a cutting-edge handheld device for skin cancer detection, and its integration into employer health plans. The discussion emphasized the benefits of early detection while addressing practical considerations for implementation.

“Emerging technologies offer tremendous potential but require careful planning,” Hupp stated. “With DermaSensor, employers must evaluate how it aligns with their benefit structure, determine appropriate coverage levels, and manage provider pricing to prevent rapid cost increases. Payers may also have differing initial perspectives on the device.”
